- Be a Skate Canada CanSkate certified coach AND/OR StarSkate Certified.
- Provide a photocopy of your Skate Canada Professional Coaching Membership Card
- Have a Police Clearance Check
- Hold a First Aid Certificate
Roles & Responsibilities:
As one of the professional coaches with our club and depending on qualifications, you will be expected to:
- Implement the guidelines and programs as set out by Skate Canada.
- Work as a team with current coaches to make our programs fun, safe and achievement oriented for all skaters.
- Lead group lessons at the Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate and/or StarSkate level and have the competency to assess skills and prepare report cards.
- Train, supervise, assess, evaluate and work with Program Assistants as required.
- Abide by the Skate Canada Coaches Code of Ethics.
- Be up-to-date with Skate Canada rules and rule amendments.
Skills:
The successful candidate will:
- Have the ability to interact and work professionally and collaboratively in a team environment with other coaches, skaters, executive board members and parents.
- Have excellent communication skills, being clear, respectful and honest when communicating with skaters, parents, coaches and board members.
- Be a positive role model for all of our skaters.
- Be committed, reliable and organized.
- Be an enthusiastic, self-motivated and driven individual with a passion for skating and desire to bring skaters through to their full potential.
- Have a willingness to keep up with and implement program changes within Skate Canada.
